Set out below is what the steps are for enrolling into the Diploma of Photography & Photo Imaging. If you don’t perfectly meet the entry requirements, give us a call, we can help you sort through your options. You might have more skills than you think!
Don’t let the thought of a folio or interview scare you off. Your work doesn’t need to be a professional standard – if it was you wouldn’t need us! It is just about seeing how your mind works.
Ready to take the next step? Here’s what you to do.
Students need to demonstrate their ability to learn at a diploma level. To assess this, we have a short interview where we look at examples of your photography. It’s a chance to get to know you better and find out where you want to go with your creative career.
What to bring to your interview:
- 250 words on why you wish to study photo imaging at Design College Australia.
- Folio of photography (see list below for a guide)
- Any other creative works of yours (hobbies etc.)
Folio of photography includes:
The folio should include a range of 3-7 images with a focus on:
- Image 1 –Use of camera features
- Image 2 – Use of light
- Image 3 – Use of composition and framing or camera angle
- Image 4 – Use of image software (e.g. Photoshop)
- Images 5 & 6 – Your own choice
Note: One, or all, of your images can meet some, or all, of these items listed.
Each image should be accompanied by a short caption explaining what the goal of each image was and how you achieved it.
Remember, we do not expect these images to be of a professional nature – that’s what we’re here for!
