Q. Do I need an OP score to get into Design College Australia?
No! Entry to all courses is via a personal interview and presentation of a body of works. Direct school leavers entering the Advanced Diploma in Visual Communication must have a pass in year 12 english (or its equivalent).
Q. Do I need my own laptop?
All students studying full time or part time in the Advanced Diploma course will need their own Mac laptop with access to the Adobe Creative Suite. You do not need to have a computer to do one of our short courses.
Q. Is Austudy available?
Our Advanced Diploma is a nationally accredited course and therefore Centrelink assistance is available to eligible students. You should check with Centrelink for find out what you are eligible for.
Q. How many hours will I be required to attend College.
Contact hours will vary slight between courses however the average hours for full-time students is about 20 hours per week (two and a half days). Contact hours for part-time students is approximately 7-8 hours per week with the occasional weekend workshop for photography students. Remember this is the time you spend in class, your will also need to put in additional hours in your own time.
Q. What if I don't have a folio?
You don’t need a professional folio for your interview. You just need to bring along a selection of creative work you have done in the past. It can be photography, sketching, computer generated image, poetry or artwork. We are more interested in seeing how creatively you think than seeing polished finished work. However, if you do not have any work that you think suitable, please download our creative brief.
Q. Will I undertake work placement?
You will not undertake work experience as you did while at school. However, the College encourages, and assists, second year students in finding work placement on their non contact days.
Q. Is Vet Fee-Help available?
Our Advanced Diploma in Visual Communication is Vet Fee-Help enabled. If you meet the Government's eligibility requirements you will be able to access it to pay for your fees. If you are not eligible for Vet Fee-Help we have flexible payment options available.
Q. Will completing the Advanced Diploma get me into university?
Yes. You are able to use your Advanced Diploma to gain entry into University and gain recognition for prior learning.
