Q. Do I need an OP score to get into Design College Australia?

A. No. Entry to all courses is via a personal interview and presentation of a body of works. Direct school leavers entering the Advanced Diploma in Visual Communication must have a pass in year 12 english (or its equivalent).

Q. Do I need my own laptop.
A. All students study the Advanced Diploma in Visual Communications will need their own Apple Laptop with the Adobe Creative Suite installed. Vet in School and Short Course students do not need their own laptop.

Q. Is Austudy available.
A. Design College's courses are nationally accredited and therefore Austudy is available to students studying full-time. This is subject to them meeting Centrelink's requirements.



 

Q. How many hours will I be required to attend College.
A. Contact hours will vary slight between courses however the average hours for full- time courses is between 16-20 contact hours per week. Contact hours for part-time students will be approximately 7 hours per week plus 3 weekend workshop per semester. Remember this is the time you will spend in class, students will be required to undertake additional study outside of class.

Q. What if I don’t have creative pieces?
A. You do not need to have a professional folio for your interview. Your folio can be a selection of any creative work you have done in the past, such as photography, sketching, computer generated images, poetry or short story writing. We are more interested in seeing how creatively you think than seeing polished finished work. However, if you do not have any work that you think suitable, please undertake the creative brief from there.

 

Q. Will I need to apply through QTAC for the university pathway with University Coast?
A. Yes. Once you have completed the Advanced Diploma you will apply through QTAC for entry to the University of Sunshine Coast.

Q. Will I undertake work placement?
A. You will not undertake work experience as you did while at school. However, the College encourages, and assists, second year students in finding work placement on their non contact day.

Q. Are there flexible payment options?
A. There are a number of payment options available. Please contact the College for details.

Q. Can I study when I am in year 11 or 12?
A. Yes. Students can complete the Certificate III in Visual Communication one afternoon a week while they are in years 11 and 12. Please refer to the vet in schools tab.
